PROJECT BACK GROUND
The Rotary Club of Thornlie (District 9740) in Western Australia was in search of a major project for Rotary’s centennial year- 2005.
The Club has had a long association with Professor Peter Hartmann of the Biochemistry Department of the University of Western Australia.
Through this association, the club became aware of how tough the beginning of life is for pre-term babies and the fact that Australia has had no human milk pasteuriser since the advent of Aids/HIV.
Science has determined that mother's milk contains many ingredients not contained in cows milk and not contained in formula milk substitute used to feed pre-term babies.
